So… I heard a rumour that you had given up bread? LOL. In the likely event that you don’t keep that up here is the best bread recipe I have tried and it’s basically no effort (although some patience is required so get ready to delay the gratification). This recipe originated in the NY times and I got the idea from a very clever baking friend of mine. Total steal as usual but it’s so easy it’s a no brainer for your small brain.
ingredients
450g Strong bread flour
1/4 tsp of yeast
1 tsp of salt
360 ml tepid water
that’s it
method
1.Mix together all the ingredients the dough should look a bit messy and shaggy. Cover and leave in a snug place for 12-18 hours ish. Just overnight at the weekend or something.
2. When you return to it it should look a bit bubbly and should have risen.
3. Sprinkle a little flour onto the table or work surface and tip out the dough fold all the edges to the centre making it a sort of ball when you turn it over. Put it back in the bowl sprinkle on a little water and let it double in size in another 2 hours.
4. Heat a le creuset or other good pot with a lid in the oven at 200 degrees. Remove when the oven is up to temperature and tip the dough in. It looks rustic – that’s good.
5. Cook in the oven for 30 mins with the lid on. Remove the lid and cook for a further 15-20 mins until golden brown.
6. Eat warm with butter melting on it and savour… Yeah…. Let’s see if you stay off the bread. LOL.
